I wanted to give you a quick update and let you know that I’m going to be taking a two week break from writing my weekly devotions. As I’m closing out this year, I am trying to do what I can to carve out time wherever possible to rest, recharge, and refuel before the busyness of the new year sets in.
Read MoreI was reading back through one of my journals this morning, and as I was, I came across a prayer. It was a prayer I heard Lysa TerKeurst pray on a podcast she appeared on as a guest. And I remember loving the prayer so much when I heard for the first time that I set an alarm on my phone to go back and write it down when I got out of the car.

When you’re wondering why you have to go through what you’re going through, why things aren’t turning out the way you want them to, and why your plan and God’s plan can’t be the same thing, He gets it. He understands, because He’s been there. And when you’re enduring a difficult circumstance, don’t you want to be encouraged by someone who’s endured the same thing?
Read MoreIf we go through life without any sort of pushback, any sort of tension, storms, or struggles, our faith will not grow stronger. Rather, it will collapse under the pressure down the road because it hasn’t been conditioned to handle the hard parts of life. But on the inside, my heart was listing off one complaint after the other.

It was originally posted here, but you can read the full devotion below as well. I hope her words are as encouraging, hope-filled, and life-giving to you as they were to me.
Read MoreA while back, I wrote and published a devotion called Encouragement For The One Who’s Stressed Out. The day the post went live, I received quite a few messages from people saying things like, “I needed this today Kristen!” or “Thanks for sharing - it’s been a stressful day here.” While I always love getting messages like this and knowing that God is working through these devotions to help and encourage other people, those weren’t the only kinds of messages I got that afternoon.
Read MoreMy all time favorite worship song is called “Goodness of God” by Jenn Johnson. I honestly can’t listen to the song without my eyes welling up with tears. The reason it’s my favorite song is because the lyrics are such an amazing reminder to remember God’s faithfulness throughout every season of my life.
