10 Verses For When You're Waiting

The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. - Lamentations 3:25

For this week’s devotionals, I want to switch things up a little bit. For the next five days, I’m going to post a series of devotions that will each include a set of 10 Scripture verses that correspond to a specific topic. One habit I believe is super helpful to develop no matter what circumstance or season we’re walking through is to run to God’s Word and see what He has to say about your current situation. My prayer is that this week’s devotionals help you do that.

So today, let’s kick things off by seeing what Scripture has to say about waiting.

What are you waiting for right now? Are you waiting for a new job? Are you waiting to be in a relationship? Are you waiting for clarity on next steps? Are you waiting for good news? Are you waiting for a break or fresh start or a big move?

We’re all waiting for something because waiting never seems to be absent from our lives in one way or another. Even if we finally get to the end of a season of waiting for one thing, another waiting season never seems to be too far behind.

I’ve written a lot about waiting over the years — whether in these devotions, in blog posts, in my job, or in my journals — so talking about waiting has become special to me in a way, even though it’s something I’m sure we’d all rather not have to deal with.

During my own seasons of waiting, I always end up going back to the same few verses in Scripture to get the boost of hope my soul needs as I sit the waiting rooms of life. So I want to share those verses with you. Because whether or not you need them right now, trust me, one day you will. And I hope these verses, these words straight from the heart of your Heavenly Father, will give hope to your soul as well.
