10 Verses For When You're Afraid

For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. - 2 Timothy 1:7

Did you know that the Bible says, “fear not” 365 times? I’m not one to believe in coincidences when it comes to God. I think it was very purposeful that the same number of times we’re told not to be afraid is the same number of days there are in a year.

That means every single day we have a reminder to “fear not,” but instead to trust our Heavenly Father.

I’m not going to list out all 365 uses of that phrase here in this devotion, but I wanted to give you a few in case you needed a pick-me-up. If you’re struggling with fear right now, if you’re worried about something, or if you find yourself constantly asking questions that start with “What if…” I would encourage you to spend some time meditating on these verses and committing them to memory.

Jesus never wants you to feel fearful. He wants you to feel at peace. He wants you to feel hopeful. And He wants you to trust that He’s got you, even when you can’t see what’s on the horizon.
