A Much Needed Word Of Encouragement

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. - 2 Timothy 1:7

As I opened up my prayer journal this morning to write a new entry, a small note fell out from between the pages. When I picked up the note and opened it, I realized it was a note I wrote to my future self back in January of 2019.

Tears filled my eyes as I read the compassionate, loving, and encouraging words on the small piece of paper. When I wrote this note nearly three years ago, I didn’t know when I would open it again. I didn’t know what my life would look like when I came across these words. But clearly the Lord knew. He knew I needed this encouragement today. He knew today would be a day I needed to be reminded of His truth, His love, and His steadfastness. And I’m so grateful He did.

I want to share this note with you now, because I hope that these words encourage you just like they encouraged me. Even if it’s only one sentence or one word that sticks out to you, I pray that God uses that sentence or that word to fill your spirit with hope, all the while reminding you that He knows you, He loves you, He’s always with you, and He is the giver of good gifts.

I hope that wherever you are and whatever you’re doing right now, you remember your Heavenly Father loves you. He has created you with intention and purpose. He knew exactly what He was doing when He put you where you are right now. He did not create you with a spirit of fear or doubt or insecurity. He made you with a spirit of confidence and hope and courage. Don’t try to convince yourself otherwise. You can do hard things. You can follow through on brave and bold decisions. And you can know for sure that He is with you every step of the way. Always remember that “He withholds no good thing from those whose walk is righteous.” Whatever He has given to you is a good gift. There is joy to be found in every season, every circumstance, every day. I hope today you find that joy.
