10 Verses When You're Feeling Lonely
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart have multiplied; free me from my anguish. - Psalm 25:16-17
I think we can all agree that loneliness is one of the worst feelings ever. Feeling isolated and alone under any set of circumstances isn’t easy. But it’s especially difficult when you’re walking through a tough season or you’re in the middle of a big transition.
Oftentimes when we’re struggling with loneliness, we reach out to other people to fill the void we’re feeling. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing to do, this shouldn’t be the first step we take.
Whenever we feel like we’re missing something, our first thought should be to go to the Lord so that He can meet our needs. After all, He is the only one fully capable of meeting every single need we have, including the needs we’re not even aware of.
So if you’re struggling with loneliness today, I would encourage you to spend some time in prayer with your Heavenly Father and ask Him to remind you that He is always with you. Pray that He would give you the comfort and the peace you’re looking for. And remember that because of Him, you are never really alone.
To get you started, here are some verses you can spend time reading, memorizing, and meditating on when you’re feeling lonely. I’ve found these to be particularly helpful and encouraging when I’m feeling lonely, and my prayer is that they would be the same for you.
