Take The Time To Say Thank You
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. - 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Something I think we can all practice more of is gratitude. It’s easy to ask for things we want, talk about things we’re looking forward to, and even complain about what we wish was different about our lives. But being thankful is something we can all continue to work on.
Specifically, I think it’s important to show gratitude towards the people in our lives that have impacted us, invested in us, encouraged us, and challenged us. So often we take these people for granted, knowing that they’ll always be there for us because they always have been. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take the opportunity to express how thankful we are for them from time to time.
So, with that in mind, I want you to do me a favor. I want you to text at least one person today (you can text more than one if you want) and let them know how grateful you are for them. Tell them a couple of reasons why you’re thankful for them, making it clear what a difference they’ve made in your life. It doesn’t have to be a long text. It doesn’t have to be ridiculously eloquent or poetic. It can be as simple as, “Hey friend. I just want you to know that you’ve made an amazing impact in my life since we’ve met, and I’m super grateful the Lord crossed our paths.”
There is passage after passage in Scripture about us encouraging one another, loving one another, and being grateful for one another, and so I wanted to give you a tangible way you could live out those verses today. Not to mention, I love the idea of a bunch of people getting unexpected thank-you texts today. So take the time to write out that message, and let someone know you’re thankful for them. It may only take you a minute or two, but what you say could stick with them for the rest of their life.
