10 Verses For When You're Feeling Discontent

Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me. - Philippians 4:11-13

It’s that time of year where talk of gratitude is everywhere. We are told to count our blessings, to think about all of the things we have to be thankful for. And while I 100% believe we all have things for which to give thanks, I also know that we’re all battling feelings of discontentment in at least one area of our lives.

Maybe you don’t like the job you’re in right now. Or maybe you don’t like where you live. Or maybe you’re ready to be done with school. Or maybe you’re tired of being single and you’re ready to be in a relationship. Whatever the case may be, it always seems like there’s something we want but don’t have.

It’s in the midst of times like these that we must turn to the Word of God and take to heart what He has to say about contentment. After all, only in Him can we find true, lasting contentment. Anything else we want or ask for will never fully satisfy us.

So with that in mind, I hope you’ll spend some time reflecting on these verses today. And as you do, pray and ask your Heavenly Father to give you a heart of contentment, even when you’re walking with unmet desires. I promise you, He will satisfy you like nothing and no one else can.
