One of the most important parts of life as a Jesus follower is prayer. But prayer can be intimidating sometimes. I know for a long time I thought all of my prayers had to be “pretty.” I thought they needed to follow a certain pattern and cadence, sounding exactly like the prayers I’d heard other, holier people pray. But over the years I’ve learned that God doesn’t require all of our prayers to be pretty and tied up neatly with a bow. They don’t have to be a certain length or follow the same template. He just wants us to talk to Him. He wants us to be honest and vulnerable and real, because after all, He already knows what’s on our hearts anyways.
