Do You Have A Faith Strategy?

They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. – Acts 2:42-47

What is your strategy when it comes to growing in your relationship with Jesus?

In other words, do you have a plan for how you’re going to prioritize spending time with Jesus and growing closer to Him?

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that if you’re going to be successful at something, you’ve got to have a game plan. You can’t just go through life winging it. You’ve got to be intentional and purposeful. Otherwise, you’re not going to be prepared when life throws you something out of left field.

This is just as true in your walk with the Lord as it is in any other area of life. But what does it look like to have a plan for growing in your faith? I think that’s a question we all need to be able to answer. So to help you figure that out, I have a list of questions I’d encourage you to think about if you’re trying to develop your own faith strategy.

1. What time each day do you plan on reading your Bible?

2. What book of the Bible are you planning on reading during this time? Or is there a devotional book or Bible study resource you can use for some guidance and direction?

3. When do you plan on spending time in prayer? (This includes talking to God and also listening for the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart.)

4. Do you have a person or a group of people who can keep you accountable in your faith?

5. Are you a part of a small group or Bible study with other believers?

6. How are you using the gifts/talents God has given you to impact the people around you?

7. Are you serving in your church or your community to minister to others and share Jesus with them?

Obviously, this isn’t an exhaustive list, but it’s a starting point to help you develop a strategy and a plan for growing in your faith. Jesus didn’t save us solely because He wanted to have a relationship with us in eternity. He wants to have a relationship with us right now, while we’re still on this earth. And if we want to grow and mature in that relationship, we’ve got to be strategic about it.

I hope and pray you’ll take the time to consider these questions and begin developing your own plan. I believe as you begin to implement it, you’ll see God do an incredible work in and through you.
