Are You Tired Of Waiting?
The Lord is good to those who wait for him. - Lamentations 3:25
Are you tired of waiting?
Me too.
I saw a quote the other day that said, “One of the hardest parts about being a Christian is the waiting.” I couldn’t agree more.
I’ve had a lot of conversations recently about waiting - conversations with friends, with family members, with single people, with married people, with students, with adults. In talking to these people, I’ve learned that you never get to a point or a season of life where you’re not waiting for something. Waiting is an inevitable and inescapable part of life. Annoying, isn’t it?
And if I’m being honest, I don’t have three more paragraphs worth of encouragement to spur you on in your wait. I don’t have all the words you need to hear to help you with your waiting. And if I’m being honest, I don’t want to share every cliche statement about waiting in hopes of making you feel a little better, because I know firsthand that those things never seem to ease the pain of waiting like you hope they will.
So for now, all I have to offer you is what God has to say about waiting. Because when our hope tank is on empty, when our doubts are overwhelming us, and when it feels like we’re going to be stuck in this holding pattern forever, His Word is all we have to cling to. So to help you get through, here are a few verses to remember when you’re waiting. Read them. Write them down. Memorize them. Meditate on them. For these words are our only hope if we’re going to remain diligent in the waiting.
The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. - Lamentations 3:25
Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord! - Psalm 27:14
But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. - Isaiah 40:31
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope. - Psalm 130:5
When the right time comes I, the Lord, will quickly do this. - Isaiah 60:22
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. - Hebrews 10:23
No one who waits for the Lord will ever be put to shame. - Psalm 25:3
Keep waiting friend. I’m waiting with you.
